What to expect from a stone mat

The mat is rigid rather than soft, which some people love and others don't. After a few months its surface may glaze over and take up water more slowly, but rubbing it lightly with fine sandpaper restores it. Take care not to drop it or rest it upright on a hard edge, because diatomite is stone and can chip.
